oh happy day!

Okay, it's no particular holiday, but there is reason to celebrate. I GET TO FLY HOME TOMORROW! Yup, I'm still in Southeast Asia because I missed my flight and it's been a couple of days filled with calling different airlines, going to the airport to try and fly on standby and waiting around for the American branch of the office to open--which is only after the Filipino branch is already closed because there's a 12 hour time difference.

Who knew it would be this hard to stop being on vacation?

Anyway, the blogging itch got the better of me and I'm in an internet cafe with some time to kill so that's why you're getting this update. Oh, and this awesome card from Kateisgreat80. It costs $2, which is approximately 90 Filipino pesos.

'shroom you later!

You're getting this nicey nice card because I'm leaving for vacation and I won't be blogging for TWO WEEKS. I wonder if I can make it. (Anyway, if I can't, there are plenty of internet cafes in Asia.)

Don't worry, I'll be taking pictures of everything and scooping up all sorts of fun stationery and handmade goodness to share when I get back. Bye!

i was going to write about procrastinating

But the anxiety I usually feel the day or so before I leave for a trip kicked in and I stopped procrastinating and started packing. And whoo-boy, I must say, there's nothing better than a comprehensive to-pack list (the bougie step-sister of the "to-do" list).

My list ended up on the back of an envelope, but if I had time I would have used this fancy listin' paper. (It even has velcro on the back so you can stick it to important places.)

And hey, the listin' pleasure doesn't stop at trips. These "to due" lists come in varieties for all sorts of situations.

i'm a little tea pot

Yes, we know it's booty sweatin' hot out and this little ditty isn't exactly a piece of stationery...but how could we help ourselves? We love tea, regardless of how inappropriate it might be. (Plus, it's the exact kind of tea kettle we've been meaning to buy.) All you need are some ice cubes and you're set.

[Polly put the kettle on pocket mirror from FaffCreations, $5]

you know those cards...

You hold on to forever because you can't find someone great enough to give it to? These cards from Lisa Congdon would definitely belong in that batch. We're so in love with them! (And no, it's not just because we're in a "printed on vintage book pages" sort of mood).

The one pictured above is part of a 6 card set (for $14). And hey, the Francophile in us can't help but point out that she used vintage pages from a French book. (There's nothing we love more than reading French text and proving to ourselves that we still remember everything our high school French teacher taught us. Merci beaucoup, Madame Antoniak.)

adorn + etsy = love

I've been meaning to subscribe to Adorn--a very awesome crafty magazine--and now I have absolutely no excuses left. They're currently running a special subscription discount just for Etsians ($11.99 for a year's subscription). If you're unfamiliar with the magazine, check out their site and blog.

vacation in 4 days!

I'm not sure if I've mentioned the specifics, but I'm going to Hong Kong and Manila for a week each. I'm so excited about the possible paper opportunities! Does anyone have any specific recommendations for things to look out for?

cake or cupcake?

How about both? I couldn't decide which print I liked better--so you get both. I love that they're printed on actual cookbook pages. (How meta!) Above, Delicious cake print, $25 from bettyturbo

fooooood!

This week's back in time round up is all about food. Because if a girl couldn't give a shout out to all her favorite food on a Friday afternoon, this would be a sad sad world. So, I like to eat...

  • Chinese Food
  • Ice Cream
  • Apples
  • French Fries

What do you like to eat? (And/or use as stationery, lol.)

these tags are just too gorgeous...

To give away. In fact, I think maybe I'd take the ties off them and hang 'em on my wall for some quick, affordable art. What do you think?

    let's sail away...

And live in a bubble. I think I'm officially ready for vacation. Too bad it's still 8 days away, 6 if I don't count the weekend. Since it's Thursday and we're all dreaming about the weekend anyway, let's talk about things that make us happy. Like this sailboat card set from A punkin card company, $10.

Or...we could talk about places you've visited. What's your favorite vacation destination? I don't think I've gone on enough vacations to know yet.

    fancy shmancy

We admit, we have no idea what "hand turned" means (we're guessing it's like "hand carved" or just plain "hand made") but it sounds really impressive. We also really like that the pen's components are made of 24k gold. What can we say? We're really just gold diggers at heart...

[Hand turned Bloodwood Pen, $26 from The wooden knot]

is it the way it's carved whilst being spun, the way baseball bats are made? -diane

    mmm...yarn

We just have to say: Louise from Cake Journal is a genius. Look at this amazing yarn cake. The cake receiver (something I always want to be) owns a yarn shop so what could be more perfect? I think I would want a typewriter cake. Or maybe--pencils or stationery? I don't know, having said that aloud makes me feel kind of geeky.

What kind of cake would you want? Also, seeing this knitting cake made me think about both Ace of Cakes and Martha Stewart's Wii cake.
