too rich for our blood

We love the idea of wallpaper, but aren't sure if we could really see ourselves papering a whole room with it.

What we especially couldn't see is us paying extra to buy sheets of real money to plaster on our walls. But that's exactly what you can get from moneyfactory.gov. Prices for the uncut currency range from $15.50-$55 dollars per tube, and that's just for one dollar bills...

are they really that different, anyway?

these paper sculptures by artist Jen Stark are just out of control. we don't know whether to have a seizure or an epiphany. what the hell, we'll just have both!

paper 'poo

A friend of ours sent a link to this dissolving paper shampoo (from Spoon Sisters, $12.50) and it was too weird not to post about. The shampoo works "even with sea water" (from their description) and apparently has a fine minty fragrance. My favorite line from the description? "Sorry, cream rinse paper is not available." We like the concept, but we're not sure about the end result. How well does the shampoo work? Has anyone ever tried it? You can get dissolving laundry paper soap too.

florentia, we hardly know thee

we'd like to potentially call foul here. when we were in florence, we saw this stationery everywhere. There was one very important difference between that and this set, which we picked up from papyrus, a shopping mall-esque stationery chain: the spelling. as far as we know, the correct spelling for the city of florence in italian is firenze, which is what the italian set read. here, however, is a variation we just can't explain. is this another version of the city's name? or is it a farce meant to appeal to americans who might not easy recognize the italian word for florence? do we have any italian-speakers out there who would like to weigh in? the sheets and envelopes inside the folder don't say anything on them, so if you like this style, you should still snatch 'em up. the back says that they're made in italy, if that's any consolation. unfortunately, it looks like they're only available in-store.

seriously wrong or seriously right?

We're all for going green, recycling, saving the environment, etc etc, but we're just not sure how we feel about this elephant poop paper Daily Candy recently featured. You can find out how the dung turns to paper here, but to be honest, they lost us after "We collect naturally dried elephant dung from elephant conservation parks."

technical difficulties

UPDATE: Both www.thejotterblog.com and thejotterblog.com work now. YAY. Sorry, we've been having weird domain problems with Go Daddy and Blogger. For some reason, we can't have the URL sans the "www" and the URL with the "www" redirect to jotterblog.blogspot.com. We can only choose one, so we've chosen "www.thejotterblog.com" for now. Hopefully, we'll be able to figure out how to make "thejotteblog.com" work too. We weren't really able to choose--we think thejotterblog.com is working because it's forwarding to jotterblog.blogspot.com but we have NO IDEA how to make the "www" work. ACKKK. If anyone has any idea, PLEASE let us know. We've tried calling Go Daddy, they're not very helpful. [Picture from The Sampler, thanks.]

um, wha???

From the site, "Pencils made from the carbon of human cremains. 240 pencils can be made from an average body of ash - a lifetime supply of pencils for those left behind." We could make a joke about recycling or something, but that seems a little inappropriate. [Via apartment therapy]
