if we were in philly, best believe we'd pay a visit to the Naked Paper exhibit at Tower Gallery. The show features the work of over 20 different artists using as their medium...paper! it seems like a really interesting exhibit. the gallery's website shows a small selection of the pieces on display, including mixed media collages, intricate paper cutting, and installations. on display until 24 august.

it's a gift tag. it's a card. it's both! plus we love that it says bonjour and features both fleurs de lis (the symbol of florence) and an awesome vintage hot air balloon. all good things smashed together, kind of like any flavor of ben & jerry's ice cream..chaotic but amazing.

We just saw an ad for Stitch 2007. It's happening Saturday, November 10 in Austin, Texas. What is it you ask? According to the site, "The Stitch Fashion Show and Guerrilla Craft Bazaar is an annual celebration of independent design, artistry and creativity." Sounds good to us.
Applications are currently being accepted if you'd like to be a part of the event--even if just to volunteer. They're also offering a Stitch Grant for crafters or designers looking to start their own small biz.
It all sounds amazing, and may give us a reason to visit Texas in the fall...
For all you New York City dwellers out there, Make Workshop has updated their summer '07 calendar and of course, the wallpaper making workshop stands out as a particularly great thing to go do.
It's $240 (plus supplies) for a total of 5 hours but "you'll leave the workshop with samples and the skills needed to create a large-scale finished product: gorgeous, one-of-a-kind handprinted wallpaper" (from their description). The images pictured are samples fromt the Make site.
If we lived in Portland, you'd probably know where to find us the 2nd Sunday of every month: Crafty Wonderland.
They feature over 40 vendors and admission is free!

We stopped by la familia green's booth at the show, but we can't seem to find the photos we took (we took alotalot and it's kind of hard to figure out what came from where), but we saw these on their site today and thought 1. did we miss father's day or is it still coming up? and 2. we've been seeing a lot of woodgrain cards lately. do we smell a fad of bubble necklace magnitude?

obviously we've been fans of cavallini & co. for a long, long time. our awe of their products was only compounded by seeing them all in the same place, at the same time. smelling salts were waved, corsets were loosened and somewhere, a fat man sweat profusely.
we didn't actually get to meet the folks from deluce (they were busy chatting up important people when we stopped by their booth), but i did slip our card behind one of their display pieces. if you read this, deluce, call me! we can go to the drive in...i'll even let you get to second (what is second anymore, anyway?)
if you're going to do one thing well, do it (do it!) like jezebel. that's going to be the chorus of our new hit single. we're not really sure what it's about yet. maybe we'll pen the national stationery show's theme. next year, it will be sung in the lobby of the javitz center by the cast of scrubs. awesome.
We think Hello!lucky might have been the first stationery press we really knew by name. We probably got a birthday card from one of our friends with better design sense than us (read: all of them) and realized that it looked quite unlike the cards we usually purchased. They had a sense of humor that was more subtle than the typical butt joke. They didn't come from the 99 cent store. They were not neon-colored.
When we visited our first love at their booth, they were kind enough to give us a tour of their newest cards, and this "peeps" cards immediately caught our eye. What's with our weird attraction to chickens? We lahv 'em!
