vintage stamps are so interesting and pretty; they just don't make them like they used to, so we're always very pleased when someone does the work for us. that's why we like these flats and pre-stamped envelopes from greer chicago. $5.50 each.

s.w.a.k.
When I was younger, I wrote many many letters and one of my favorite parts was licking the envelopes closed, slathering my lips with chapstick and kissing the outside of the envelope. I could not, however, understand why my lips didn't leave the red imprint I was expecting it to.
Yeah, I was a dumb kid.

book 'em, frank
Stationery and craftiness collide in donovan's new tutorial, how to make a book out of envelopes. We think this is an awesome way to make the most of stationery whose envelopes outshine the actually paper, like these we recently bought from cavallini & co.
Thanks to donovan's partner in crime, kathy, for bringing it to our attention.

mad friday
we just had to check out the goods when we got a tip from stephanie announcing her new line, ink & paper. our favorites were these bird, fish and frog self-mailers (3 for $9.95) and this "mad about you" card ($2,95). because we love being mad about things...or just plain mad.

Diane and I were wandering around Jam Paper half-crazed looking for the perfect mini envelopes. (Why? You'll find out later...) We should have searched, Etsy (where else?) first. Le Petit Parisian Envelopes from Sarahkat, $4 for a set of 10.
Mini envelopes from sweetyprize ($6 for a set of 20)
Vintage church offering envelopes from covetablecuriosities, $2.75 for a pack of 3
Mini envelopes from time2cre8, $3 for a set of 20

In honor of ANTM's season finale and Jaslene's victory (though we were rooting for Natasha), here's a round up of fashionista-ish stationery. Because why the hell not... The above, Vintage gift tags from wallflowerqld ($4.50 for a set of 2).
Vintage Barbie (the ultimate fashionista) greeting card from Lula Boutique ($3.50)
Fashionista envelopes (recyled magazines) from Swirly Arts ($3 for a set of 10)
Two fashionable looking ladies from Uneek ($6)

reminder: stamp prices up today
Remember when Jotter was a wee new blog (a whole month ago) and we said something about stamp rates going up May 14th? Well, apparently we (and the USPS) weren't lying and it's happening today. In addition to those damn 2 cent stamps you'll need for your 39 cent ones to get up to par, pick up some Forever stamps so the next time there's an increase you won't have to worry (or do math--which is always the worst part).
For the down and dirty details on the rate hikes, USPS has an "easy reference" PDF.

orange you glad?
it seems like we can't get enough of How about Orange lately. First there was our post about downloadable PDF birthday cards, and now Orange has instructions about how to make cool homemade envelopes from any paper you want. Photo on the computer? Print it out! Off-season wrapping paper? Consider it done. Our credit card bill? The further from us it goes, the better!
