awesome: LWA

we're always looking for two things: new excuses to write letters and new people who love letter writing. The Letter Writers Alliance looks like the perfect place to find both. It's from the same brilliant minds that bring you 16sparrows and is filled with neat stuff, like free downloads of LWA letterhead stationery that you can personalize, and the cute notecards pictured below.

They'll set you up with some penpals too, via their penpal swap. Joining is very easy; membership comes free with the purchase of some LWA stationery, or you can just buy in for $3. About the LWA: In this era of instantaneous communication, a handwritten letter is a rare and wondrous item. The Letter Writers Alliance is dedicated to preserving this art form. Prepare your pen and paper, moisten your tongue, and get ready to write more letters!

IN THE NEWS: whimsy press sale

whimsy press is having an unseasonal sort of sale: everything with a skull on it is 30% off when you enter ARRGH at checkout. It's easy enough to find what's on sale, since there's a dedicated pirate tab up top. we think the best pick is these love/hate cards, $4.50 before the discount.

IN THE NEWS: Free hotness

okay, so we know we're a little late to the dinner table with this one, but we were busy thinking about the pronunciation of Ian Ziering's first name. Why the hard I, Ian? What do you think you have to prove? Anyway though, there's some sort of giveaway going on over at the Hostess With The Mostest Blog. What sort of giveaway, you ask? Why a stationery giveaway! It's only going on through tomorrow, but there's no reason why you can't still give it a shot. The stuff she's featuring is really topnotch.

IN THE NEWS: Snookus today, gone tomorrow

We spotted this post on paper crave about Snookus notepads. When we went to the site to see the Snookus (we just can't stop saying it!) bounty for ourselves, what did we find? A sale section! Oh yes...and a cupcake pad ($4) that encouraged putting things off. Sales, cupcakes and procrastination, a winning combination. There are other pads on sale too, for up to 40%. Check it out today, or tomorrow...or whenever.

oh (nantaka) joy!

We cannotcannot wait to see the debut of the famous oh joy!'s paper and pattern line at the national stationery show next week. We have read her site obsessively since we discovered it and yesterday when we saw the announcement of the launch of her line, nantaka joy, we were so excited our monocles cracked. There's not a lot of info on the nantaka joy site yet, but we'll be live blogging the show's opening day (Sunday May 20th) so as soon as we know, you'll know. [thanks oh!joy]

in the news

Our "in the news" series brings you the good word about what's going on inside our favorite presses, from sales to new designs. Are we excited about the sale at Egg Press! Buy one of their favorite card collections, get one letterpress card (of their choosing) free. Our favorite of the favorites is the sweet collection. Also in the news is their new garden collection, which is full of fresh, sherbet-colored prints. Free letterpress and beautiful botanicals? Sweet!
